WORLD RECORD CORN MAZE!!

STILL THE LARGEST IN THE WORLD! Cool Patch Pumpkins Holds on to Title in Guinness Book of World Records (Dixon, California)- The 2009 Guinness Book of World Records is out and Cool Patch Pumpkins’ World’s Largest Corn Maze is still in it! Brothers Mark and Matt Cooley, the inventors of the maze, have even made it bigger than it was in 2007 when they were first given the honor.

Matt and Mark with their dog“It’s great to still hold the record,” says Matt Cooley. Mark agrees. “So many records don’t even make it into the official Guinness book, (they usually pick 4,000 out of 40,000) so we’re very proud to continue to have the designation and to open the book and find our maze information inside.”

Those who have braved the maze (which was 40 acres in 2007 and is now nearly 43 acres) number in the hundreds, and there’s still plenty of time to brave the myriad twists and turns that confuse, confound and ultimately delight. The maze (along with the pumpkin patch) will be open until November 9. Along with the World’s Largest Corn Maze, Cool Patch Pumpkins will feature endless varieties of pumpkins, a scarecrow exhibit and last year’s pumpkin-pulverized VW bug.

Open 9am to 9pm daily. Guests under 18 years of age must be accompanied by parent or guardian to enter the corn maze after 6:30pm.

Starting out with just a few acres and a lofty goal, the brothers began building their mazes with an eye to the Guinness prize which they received last September. They create a fresh design each year for the maze, starting with an idea and hand-cutting the maze, making sure there are enough exciting twists and turns to delight and confound the most experienced visitor. While last year’s maze stretched into 40 mind-twisting, GPS-challenging acres, they think this year’s will be the best ever. The Cooleys have made this year's maze "cornier" than ever expanding the labyrinth to a whopping 42.9-acres for 2008. See how we did it!
